A Vision Born Out of What Could
Not Be Ignored

Afam Afamefuma was born in Nigeria, one of the few children fortunate enough to receive an education. That opportunity eventually led him to Wisconsin, where he now serves as pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He also serves as Chaplain of the Milwaukee County Community Reintegration Center, where he ministers to more than 700 men and women.

But twelve years ago, during a visit home to Nigeria, he and his wife Oby saw something they could not forget.

Children walking miles each day under the hot sun just for the chance to sit in a classroom. And even then, most would only be able to stay in school for a few years.

Not because they lacked intelligence.
Not because they lacked desire.
But because their families simply could not afford it.

Without education, many of these children face a future of hardship, long days of labor, and little chance to rise above poverty. That is when Pastor Afam and Oby made a decision that would change countless lives.

They would build a school.

Not just a school where children learn to read and write, but a school where they would receive excellent academics, strong Christian teaching, daily care, and the opportunity to grow into leaders for God’s glory.

Opening This September

Armor of God International Academy is preparing to welcome its first students this September. The school will begin with kindergarten and first grade, serving 80 children in its first year. Each year, those students will move up, and new children will be welcomed in, until the school grows into a full K–12 academy. This school stands as a testimony to God’s provision and faithfulness. What once seemed impossible is now about to open its doors.
